TRIUMPHONY: Czech glass of five centuries

The triumphant symphony was bequeathed to the world by the jubilant Bedřich Smetana. But figuratively also his contemporaries from the glassmaking family. The gallery at Milovská hut brings their global triumph to life with thousands of historical exhibits complemented by the work of living and world-famous Czechoslovak studio glassmakers. Visitors will be greeted by “Listeners/Listeners” – a set of sculptures by Gisela Šabóková ” placed in the garden whose flowers once inspired the glassmakers of Milov. Artificial intelligence provides descriptions of the exhibits, including an interpretive Glaspedia, and a mini-cinema offers an engaging documentary about the fascinating story of the Milov glassworks and twenty other Highland glassworks. All of this is underscored by the music of a “cross-country” native, Bohuslav Martinů. The gallery is located on the glassmaking trail in the charming meander reserve of the Svratka River.
