The Zdeněk Sklenář Gallery in Litomyšl mainly presents the works of immortals. After F. Kupka, J. Šíma and others, now comes Václav Boštík (1913-2005). A native of Horní Újezd and later a student of the Litomyšl Grammar School, he left his mark in Litomyšl in the form of many years of work on the sgraffiti of the Renaissance chateau, where together with O. Zoubek, Z. Palcre and S. Podhrázský formed the now legendary quartet of esteemed restorers.
V. Boštík was also the founder of the Zdeněk Sklenář Gallery in Litomyšl, for which he designed the protective grilles that you can see in its windows in 1995.
Zdeněk Sklenář in 2011 in the first monograph V. Boštík with the consent of his daughter Helena wrote: “Václav Boštík lived in deep faith in God, wisdom, humility, uncompromising honesty with himself and his work…he is proof for me that a living faith is possible and art is one of the ways to realize it.”
