12. 6. – 31. 10. 2026
The Litomyšl City Gallery has prepared another annual exhibition in public space, this time focusing monographically on the work of Jaroslav Róna. The artist’s free sculpture and sculptural interventions in urban exteriors are characterized by a clearly defined, massive form and content drawing on mythology, history and archetypes. The beauty of his sculpture lies in the figure, through which the artist reflects his imagination instead of reality, embodied in symbolic humanoid and animal beings. The silent, mythical worlds of Jaroslav Róna come to life in monumental sculptures whose organically deformed shapes, reminiscent of totems or idols of natural cultures, do not appear as a foreign element in the urban environment. On the contrary, their stoic calm emphasises that the city is not only a source of stress, but also a place of stopping, contemplation and shared space.
