The exhibition organized by the city gallery in the Red Tower presents a selection of works from OSTRALE – the Dresden Biennial of Art. The collection of works by international male and female artists is a multivocal, deeply personal statement, loosely intertwined with themes of time, childhood, human memory, motherhood, as well as unrelenting homesickness, alienation, loss of identity and ecological illusions. A common feature of the artist’s coming to terms with reality is satire on the one hand, subtle humour and aesthetic nostalgia on the other. The intention of the exhibition project is to offer the viewer the opportunity to disengage from the chaos of everyday life and to find a temporary refuge in the remains of the city’s medieval fortifications among art that is not afraid to express itself on current issues or, on the contrary, to view the world through the filter of an idealised reality.
