Veronika Bílková is a painter and illustrator living and working in Litomyšl. She is mainly engaged in the creation of her own books about music composers: Beethoven (2020), Smetana ( 2022). Both books have won international awards for their unique approach to illustration. In recent years, the artist has also devoted herself to plein air painting, through which she transfers authentic motifs of various European cities into her paintings. The exhibition entitled Outdoors 2 presents new paintings inspired by the industrial environment of Polish shipyards. They capture the noise and rhythm of monstrous working cranes and the colourful grids of transshipments and containers. The ever-changing lively compositions guided the artistic expression of Bílková’s rapid, often duplicated depiction of motifs, which she subsequently redefined in her other works.
