Lucie Suchá – On the road

Travelling exhibition Czech inspiration

Organised by Czech inspiration and the Municipal Gallery in Litomyšl

Red Tower, Litomyšl Faculty of Restoration at Pardubice University, 10th June - 5th July 2011

One of the very successful exhibitions as part of Smetana's creative exhibition was an exhibition of naïve pictures by Honza Volf, held by the association Czech inspiration in 2007. In 2011, the association returns with its traditional travelling exhibition in historic towns covering a similar topic - pictures with no high artistic ambitions but bringing the viewers joy, smile, and positive mood. Lucie Suchá, born in Beroun in 1968, has no artistic education, she started painting when she got oil paints from her husband for Christmas. She painted the first picture in summer 1989 at a weekend-house below Týřov castle and she has painted over three hundred pictures to date. Set in typical old window frames, the pictures soon became a favourite decoration in households, but also a subject of successful exhibitions.

Since 1992, Lucie Suchá has had over 30 exhibitions and the pictures have become parts of private collections in Germany, Holland, Italy, Italy, Slovakia, Japan, Mexico and the USA.
