Alfons Mucha is one of the leading representatives of the Belle Époque. It is therefore natural that his works will become a dominant feature of the Festival Hall, the venue of the 65th Smetana Litomyšl National Festival. The annual theme recalls the period of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, but also points out that the feeling of experiencing "beautiful times" is very individual. The period of the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries could certainly be called so as well, which is why the second part of the exposition consists of the work Apotheosis by Jiří David, which is based on Mucha's monumental painting Apotheosis "Slavs for Humanity!" from the famous cycle Slavic Epic. Jiří David reinterprets this work and approaches it from the position of a contemporary artist with a sense of critical analysis.
