The exhibition presents a series of several dozen illustrations for the book Bohuslav Martinů (2025), the third publication by Veronika Bílková, which belongs to the free series on composers published by Verzone. It follows the books Ludwig van Beethoven (2020) and Bedřich Smetana ( 2022). The artwork of the book reflects the rich life story of Bohuslav Martinů, the diversity of his musical work and the cultural and historical context of the events of the first half of the 20th century that accompanied and significantly influenced Martinů’s work. The cycle of paintings deliberately lacks visual continuity. The expressiveness is subordinated to the diverse conception of the composer’s works, but also to the time and environment in which they were created. The illustrations are executed using oil and acrylic painting techniques.
